Day 69: Did she close her legs firmly?

Image of a woman crying. "Raped? Hold on, it's not over yet. Paul Ryan sponsored a bill making it possible for a rapist to sue the victim in order to prevent abortion from being performed."

"Innocent looking girls that are kinky as fuck are girls worth living for."

"A bill called HB 1337 is on its way to Indiana Governor Mike Pence, at which point he will decide if women who have had abortions should be held responsible for the burial or cremation of the fetus, amongst other bat-shit insane things."

woman posts on facebook: “Yesterday, when I arrived at the bus terminal at 6:00am, there was a skinny man who was so drunk that fell into deep sleep after 10 minutes.
“He had oversized pants that left his underwear and half his ass exposed.
“In short: young, drunk, middle of the night, in a sketchy place like the terminal is at that time, and with his ass in the air… and not even me, nor any of the women who passed him during the spectacle, raped or killed him.
“You see guys, it’s not so hard and no matter how drunk you are or how you dress, you can respect the lives of others???”

"When called to give her statement, the judge 'repeated questions to the victim on whether she made any attempt to resist aggression including asking her "did she close her legs firmly?" and "did she close all of her female organs",'The Local reports."

"A judge who allegedly asked a rape victim whether she had tried "closing her legs" is the subject of a campaign to have her suspended.
Judge Maria del Carmen Molina Mansilla, in the Basque Country in Spain, has been accused of "offensive questioning" of a woman who was describing how she was sexually and physically abuse."

Writing made to look like chalk: "If you done slept with more than one person in 2016.... you a hoe"

Flower. Text: "Women can consent to sex without consenting to pregnancy."

John Stewart: Sexism: Does it still exist? Some men say no.

"Few women will be unfamiliar with the argument that we live in a meritocracy. When discussions of quotas and gender parity goals arise (as they often do, particularly in celebrations around International Women's Day), the common retort is usually to complain about 'giving jobs to people who don't deserve them' - as if all the white dudes currently running the show worked, like, super hard to get there."

A woman talks about cultural pressures in clothing: "People tell women to be modest/chaste, but the moment a woman does either for herself instead of for others, it's "scary" and all the pressure shifts to telling her she should be sexier."

Tweet: "Men wanna sexualize women without their consent 24/7 but the moment a woman sexualizes herself for public consumption she loses all respect."

In regards to a Lane Bryant ad featuring plus sized women: "The ad was so honest in its celebration of the female body, in fact, that major networks NBC and ABC refused to run it as is. Though ABC declined to comment, a representative from NBC told New York Daily News it turned down THIS BODY because the ad didn’t “comply with broadcast indecency guidelines.” The Federal Communications Commission defines indecency as “language or material that, in context, depicts or describes, in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium, sexual or excretory organs or activities.”"

"Your body is beautiful, and Lane Bryant won’t let you forget it. The clothing company’s latest campaign, THIS BODY, features a series of plus-size models wearing everything from killer outfits to nothing at all, celebrating the female form in all its unadulterated glory. Models Tara Lynn, Denise Bidot, and Georgia Pratt star in the video alongside Ashley Graham and Precious Lee. Each woman shares what aspects of her body make her proud with the formulaic phrase, “This body [verb],” and the result is a 30-second commercial that puts the focus on celebrating body positivity and diversity in an unapologetic way.
Graham said her body was “made for being bold, powerful, and sexy,” while Lee focused on her body’s ability to “prove them wrong.” New mother Lynn shared her body was “made for love,” while breastfeeding her baby son. The models celebrated everything from “getting it on” to “rocking denim”—all the while recognizing their bodies for making those things possible."

A woman talks about her husband's approach to her endometriosis: "The struggles of dealing with it — she had extensive surgery — upended their sex life and contributed to the demise of their marriage, she writes. Ms. Lakshmi said Mr. Rushdie at one point called her “a bad investment” and was insensitive to her medical condition even as she tried to recuperate."

"Padma Lakshmi’s new memoir Love, Loss, and What We Ate sounds like an excellent read: first we found out that she wasn’t quite sure who the father of her daughter was for a stretch there (fun!), and now she’s revealed that her relationship with her ex-husband Salman Rushdie dissolved partially because he wasn’t supportive of her health struggles.
Lakshmi told People that her shared background with Rushdie bonded them. “For us Indians, he’s like Hemingway,” she said."

"The lowest ranked spot on the list, Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo, is known for being Canada’s hub for IT, an industry dominated by men. The city has one of the largest wage gaps, with women making 66 per cent of what men make overall. Women’s poverty rates there are also higher than average, as is the rate of domestic violence reported to police."

A report on the worst cities in Canada to be a woman in: “If I had to name one policy change, one political change that could go some way towards closing the gap between men and women in terms of economic power, I would say accessible, high-quality child care.”

"A 15-year-old Indian girl who was raped and set on fire this week died Wednesday in the New Delhi hospital where she was being treated for severe burns, police said.
Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and charged him with raping and burning the girl Monday in a village outside New Delhi, one of several recently reported cases of rapes of women or children in India."

Of 156 most highly funded Kickstarter RPGs, three were written by women.

In the top 20 most grossing RPGs of Kickstarter fame, none (so far) were written by women.

"When Teodora suffered a still-birth in 2008, El Salvador convicted her of ‘aggravated homicide’ and sentenced her to prison."

"I had a great deal of fun with ‪#‎TheTriggering‬ today, as did many of my most adamantly and bullishly feminist friends. It was a chance to point and laugh at an idea that could not have backfired any more spectacularly. But I think it’s also important to remember that while the planning and execution were pathetically bad, this was a plan born of genuine hatred and fear of women, people read as women, and anyone who supports their liberation and fair treatment."

"I’m not saying Hillary would be the renegade choice if she were a man. I’m saying Hillary would be the next president if she were a man. No contest."

A friend writes an article on why it sucks to be a female publisher.

"I really like Marina and all but as a straight man it's really hard to watch this video."

Company gives women Bic for Her pens as a gift for international women's day. Women rejoice.

Sweater: "I'm a gamer's girl and I'm his highest score."

Worst cities in Canada to be a woman include Kitchener-Waterloo because it's the Canadian Silicone Valley. And that means a huge wage gap and a huge amount of underemployed women.

"How come a girl can wear guy clothes and look cute or wear a suit and look hot, but when a guy wears a dress or a skirt that's considered weird?" "because our society thinks it's degrading to be feminine."

This was an ongoing problem with an art/science show I helped curate in 2006. One of the installations was interactive, computerised clothing and the artists went with gender neutral skirts for a long li

Incorrect, if she were a man she would be long out of the running, much like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. The only reason she still has support is because of people that still have blinders on due to the fact that she is a woman. If you actually do your research about her you would learn that she is a horrible human being.

You will see that some of these posts were directed towards me as I was defending Hillary as the better choice over Trump if she beat Sanders in the primaries at one point without doing my due diligence to know the truth about who I was supporting.

I could post links like these all day.

It is unfortunate that Senator Elizabeth Warren didn't run for president as she would be an exceptional president that has pretty much the same platform as Bernie Sanders.

Supporting Hillary is supporting a horrible future for the US, I would go as far as to say that Trump would be the better choice.
