Day 50: Sugar Tits

"Blake Lively: Actress Was Reportedly Told to Uncross Legs at Michael Kors Fashion Show
According to Page Six, Lively and others in the front row continued to sit with their legs crossed during Wednesday's show despite being told by the company chairman to do otherwise."

The Amazing Spiderman: Where spiderman rips a woman's shirt off, gets told to man up, and his uncle then mansplains his aunt's emotions to her.

A post about how women don't need to be polite to men who catcall and harass them. "Then don't complain when people aren't polite back. The problem with this is anything can make you feel uncomfortable and if you treat a sweet guy or girl like shit because of the experience with assholes you'll miss out"

"“Tik Tok” star Kesha broke into tears Friday when a Manhattan Supreme Court judge refused to let her walk away from a six-album deal with Sony — and the man she claims raped her."

"My mother (born in 1915) always talked about sex as something a man does TO a woman."

"A New York judge refused Friday to release pop singer Kesha from her contract with producer Dr. Luke, which has become a source of contention for the artist’s career after she accused him of sexual abuse and refused to continue working with him as mandated by her deal. In 2014, Kesha sued the mega-producer—with whom she was under contract since 2005—for allegedy drugging and raping her, among other claims. The judge apparently sided with Dr. Luke after hearing how the producer invested $60 million in Kesha’s career and that he allowed the singer to make music without his involvement. “That decimates your argument,” the judge told Kesha and her counsel. “My instinct is to do the commercially reasonable thing.”"

Mark Ruffalo answers the sexist questions Scarlett Johansson gets in interviews.

"A U.S. NY court judge has said Sony would suffer "irreparable harm" if Kesha was not compelled to continue to work under her contract with the man she has identified as her rapist and abuser, for six more albums. Once again, we are told that the safety of corporations matters more than the safety of women."

Tweet: "Hey Feminists, if nipples aren't sex organs and ya wanna show them then why don't you show your assholes too? Those aren't sexual organs."

Man comments on Kesha's situation: " I'm not saying she did or didn't get assaulted. But, this pic is 110% sure she got raped based off her simple accusations?
Man, there's been cases where women lied about rape and ruined men's lives.
All I'm saying is no one was there; so, how are you 110% sure she's saying the truth? "

"We stand with Kesha"

"there is no difference between male survivors and female survivors. Feminists hate men so much that they cannot even sympathise with men who have had horrible things happen to them. "

Amber Rose talks about consent like a boss: ""If I'm laying down with a man -- butt-naked -- and his condom is on, and I say, 'You know what? No. I don't want to do this. I changed my mind,' that means no. That means f-ing no. That's it.
"It doesn't matter how far I take it or what I have on," she continues. "When I say no, it means no."

Another man on victim blaming. "The person primarily responsible for one's own safety is the person him/herself. For the same reason I don't wander down dark streets late at night with fifty dollar bills dangling out of my pockets, every other person should take sensible and reasonable precautions to avoid predators. The police are absolutely doing the right thing in warning people not to become victims. What is the alternative? Post "No Raping Allowed" signs and then assume that the problem has been solved?"

Another man comments on victim blaming messages like "don't wear suggestive clothing." "This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard! Poeple complaining that Police are TRYING to help them! So I guess when they tell people to lock their cars to prevent theft, THAT is blaming the victim too? Maybe if one of those nay-sayers was in a bar and had someone spike their drink, they might be more accepting of some friendly advice....."

A man comments about victim blaming in sexual assaults. "Sexual assault like a rape or just asking a girl out on a date?
To some people, asking a girl out on a date is considered a sexual harassment / assault, and the person can be arrested by the police or kicked out of school. That is how the United States treat their visible minorities. Canada is becoming more like the United States. That is a good way to increase racial hatred in Canada."

"There’s also the well-publicized case of Federal Court Judge Robin Camp in Alberta, who asked a sexual assault complainant why she couldn’t keep her knees together."

"In 2011, a Toronto police officer told a group of university students that women should avoid dressing like “sluts” to avoid being raped. Const. Michael Sanguinetti later apologized and was disciplined but remained on duty."

"It’s a delicate balance, as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary recently found out after a public advisory warning about drugged drinks and potential sexual assaults in downtown St. John’s.
The advisory offered safety tips for women that included socializing only with trusted friends and never leaving a drink unattended – and the force followed up with a tweet showing a martini and the message “Don’t be a victim.”"

"What would the world be like without some terrible Bill Cosby news? We’ve forgotten. This week, the fallen comedian is suing Andrea Constand, a woman he’s currently charged with drugging and raping, for repayment of a civil settlement sum he paid her in 2005—which stipulated that she remain quiet about his alleged assault against her.
Cosby’s lawyers say that Constand and her mother spoke with police last year, which allowed authorities to charge him in December 2015, just before the incident’s statute of limitations expired. According to the Associated Press, Constand breached the confidentiality agreement."

"Ronda Rousey has publicly apologized for posting an Instagram photo of herself that was Photoshopped, claiming she wasn’t aware the image was altered.
The photo, a shot of Rousey’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, was Photoshopped to make her arm appear smaller."

Halsey tweets: "Disgusted by anyone in power positions abusing their authority. My heart breaks for Kesha and all people affected by this toxicity. Fuck."

"everyday phrases reduce women to their bodies again and again — a trend that the photo series Words for Women by Anna Friemoth skewers using cartoonish, surreal portraits of the ways we subtly disparage femininity. Each photograph is a literal depiction of labels for women, from "golddigger" to "sugar t*ts," and the results highlight just how ridiculous such language can be"

"Female refugees are raped or assaulted by other refugees, and this is somehow Europe's fault?"

"There is also the threat of rape and sexual assault by smugglers, security guards, policemen and fellow refugees. Some smugglers try to coerce the women into having sex with them in exchange for a shorter waiting time or a lower price for the crossing." About the abuse of female refugees.

"All the women interviewed for the Amnesty report said that they felt unsafe and threatened during the various stages of their journey. Women are at greater risk of becoming victims of violence, robbery and extortion.
Manal explains: "The women often carry the money with them, because the men think women won't get assaulted.
"But it does happen all the same. My husband saw it with his own eyes - a refugee woman was attacked by Syrians who slit her throat for her money."" Article on the safety of female refugees.

" The Witch offers an ecstatic vision of an alternate universe for women to inhabit, to find sanctuary in with other women unencumbered by God and patriarchy — a blood-soaked, clothing-optional, ladies only occult paradise that’s the stuff of feminist separatist wet dreams. To me, the true, delicious horror of Eggers’ film is in the brutal feminist redemption it portrays, depicting the worst fears of Republicans, MRAs and misogynists everywhere, perhaps best summed up by Pat Robertson back in the 1980s, when he decreed feminism a path for women to “leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians.” Who’s in?"

"Throughout all this, it’s effective that The Witch isn’t jump-out-of-your-seat scary but instead is frightening because of the ways it taps into society’s primal fear of women. “We will conquer the wilderness, it will not consume us,” the family patriarch commands to Caleb as the two seek game in a wild, untamable forrest filled with animals that elude capture. This sentiment is easily a sexual metaphor, driven home when Thomasin’s Peeping Tom brother kisses the crone in the guise of a bodacious, red-cloaked babe, returns home naked and delirious, and vomits up an apple (of carnal knowledge?) before joining his baby brother in Hell."

A client tells me that men can't help themselves and will have sex regardless of consent.

"We don’t “keep choosing violent men”. There are simply enough of them to go around to put one woman in this country in hospital every three hours. And violence of all kinds has such a profound impact on our available resources that we become increasingly vulnerable to violence the more of it we are forced to endure."

"Instead of the woman who has learned to be helpless, women’s responses to men’s violence can be understood as adaptive behaviour. This occurs within a fundamentally toxic social environment in which being subjected to violence is treated as a personal failure and where every response is either pitied or pathologised."

"But unfortunately for women seeking therapeutic support, in order to survive and escape domestic violence, therapists of all persuasions have been specifically trained to locate the problem in their clients."

"Last year, clinical psychologist Sallee McLaren argued half the responsibility for domestic violence lies with the victim."

"Claim from minister in Tokyo that there is no evidence government coerced women into wartime brothels provokes anger in Seoul"

"More women in the U.S. are killed by their intimate partners -- boyfriends, husbands and exes -- than any other type of perpetrator. HuffPost recently tracked and analyzed a month of deadly domestic violence. According to our analysis, there were 112 suspected intimate partner homicides in January, and firearms were responsible for 57 percent of the deaths. That aligns with existing data, which has found that guns are used more frequently than any other weapon in these lethal events."

"Experts believe that domestic violence victims are at the highest risk of being killed when leaving an abusive partner. Why don't our gun laws reflect that?"

"Is ignorance being sold here? She wasn't a victim of sexual assault you nit and everyone knows her name from the first time she was caught lying about being struck by Manziell."

A woman talks about what she heard when a news report said that a sports player was abusing his girlfriend. "I was shopping at my local co-op, which is generally a progressive place, when a guy said loudly that sports girlfriends are golddiggers and deserve what they get. "

"On January 30, the former girlfriend says Manziel restrained her in his hotel room, and then restrained her as he directed her down to his car. That’s where she pleaded with the hotel valet for help. The valet reportedly did not know what to do—and did nothing. What ensued after was the victim trying to escape from the car by foot, being dragged back, and being hit so hard she has a temporary loss of hearing done to her eardrum being ruptured. The fight continued:
They then left Dallas for her apartment in Fort Worth. During the ride, Manziel allegedly threatened to kill both himself and her. The fight continued at the apartment where Manziel allegedly smashed the victim’s phone, and she pulled a knife out of her knife block and advanced toward him, according to the affidavit. He fled."

"An affidavit by former girlfriend of Cleveland Browns quarterback, Johnny Manziel, alleges the football player assaulted her, held/transported her against her will, and threatened to kill her. The victim’s name does not appear here to avoid further victim-blaming/shaming, which is often the case when American sports stars are accused of assaulting or raping women."

A man comments on a post about not teaching girls that boys picking on them means affection. "It's nature. Kids will be kids.. I will never let my child think abuse is ok but it helps them understand why they do these things when they are young. They don't know how else to express their feelings. You just have to make sure it's explained properly to them. My niece and daughter have come home wondering why and it turns out its bevause the boy likes her."

Beige background, black text. "Don't tell your daughter that when a boy is mean or rude to her it's because he has a crush on her. Don't teach her that abuse is a sign of love."

MAC shows purple lipstick on a black woman and the internet erupts with racist and sexist comments about the company and the woman.

On a kink board: man wants to know why people complain about FetLife so much. A few men complain about the interface and newsfeed. Most of the women complain about nonstop creepy solicitation from strange men. The creepiness factor didn't even appear on the guy's radar as a possible issue.
